MILLER FAMILY
Pictures Found
Wesley E. Pippenger of Arlington, Virginia, was in 1988 given a group of old photographs from his cousin Clarence Pippenger, of Blue Mound, Kansas. The photographs are primarily from the family of Clarence's mother, Susan Miller who married Daniel C. Pippenger. Related families include Ward, McMurray, Garrison, Barry, Hedrick, Cook.
By obtaining copies of vital records and working with census records, Mr. Pippenger has connected these families as found below:
JOHN MILLER, b. 18 September 1836 in Ohio, was a son of Samuel Miller of
Virginia, and wife Sarah Ann Welliver of Ohio, daughter of Isaiah and Charity Welliver.
The John Miller family is found on the
1870 census for Dade County, Missouri. He removed c.1878 to Bates County,
Missouri, where his family is enumerated on the 1880 census taken the 7th
of June. By 1900, we find the family of John Miller enumerated in
Deepwater, Fairview township, Henry County, Missouri.
John Miller was married by Wm. D. Woodruf, M.G., 21 June 1857 in Fayette County, Ohio to Mrs.
Adaline Orr Ward, a widow. Adaline Orr was born 18 March 1839 in Indiana. She was a daughter of
James Orr (1809-1880) and wife Percilla Ann Vantresse (1813-1908) late of Danville, Vermiliion County, Illinois,
and granddaughter of Joseph Orr (1782-1853) and Nancy Agnes McElhaney (1787-1849) late of Fayette County, Ohio,
the latter being a daughter of Felix McElhaney (McIlheney) (1755-1841), a Revolutionary War patriot who was a
native of County Fermanagh, Ireland. See Irwin, Orr, Biesen and Lenz family data on Rootsweb.com.
